February sees Maps101 return to the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) show in Austin, Texas. Always a busy show TCEA is where Technology Coordinators, Teachers, Librarians and Administrators from all over the state (and beyond!) go to see the latest in classroom technology.TCEA Convention

This year’s theme is “Charting New Waters” and for two of our intrepid explorers it will be their first time representing Maps101 at a tradeshow. Emma Joshi is a graduate from UCSB with a passion for cartography and GIS systems, who joined Maps101 in 2009 as Customer Coordinator, while Aileen Menchaca, a recent recruit and local resident of Austin, bringing 10+ years of experience selling to education (and slightly less experience as the parent of two school aged children!) The team will be headed up by Brooke Mills, also a resident of the Lone Star State.Maps101 Compass

In terms of ‘new waters’ for Maps101, we are delighted to introduce our Spanish Language materials at the show. All of our Geography in the News™ articles – produced weekly by Geographer Dr. Neal Lineback, will appear in Spanish and English. We also have a growing collection of maps in Spanish available on the site. Other new materials include the Geo Quiz and State Capitals games, and even more National Geographic content than ever before for Earth Sciences, Geography and History use. As February is Black History Month, ask about our special content section and up and coming specials throughout 2010.

Finally, remember that with Maps101 you get access to our Texas Atlas which includes maps, illustrations, facts and figures on the Lone Star State past and present – and lesson plans and activities correlated specifically for TEKS standards. Visit us at booth #528 and see for yourself. Leave your details to be entered into a drawing for Maps101 giveaways, and for all those visitors who also follow us on Facebook, or comment on this blog we will give you an additional entry!
